Freedom Programme

A Step Toward Healing and Strength

Experiencing abuse can leave deep emotional scars and a confusing mix of feelings. Many survivors find themselves asking why did this happen and was it my fault? — while struggling to rebuild confidence and a sense of safety. At C4F we believe that understanding what has happened is an important step toward healing.

Freedom Programme

Our Freedom Programme is a supportive group course that helps survivors of domestic abuse make sense of their experiences, understand abusive behaviour, and regain confidence and control over their lives. It’s delivered in a safe, respectful environment by trained facilitators who understand the impact of abuse and are here to help you move forward.

Why the Freedom Programme Helps

Abuse can be isolating and confusing. Survivors are often left with self-doubt, fear, and unanswered questions. The Freedom Programme helps by:

  • Exploring how abuse works — looking at the attitudes and beliefs that drive abusive behaviour.

  • Making sense of your experience — helping you see patterns, recognise tactics, and understand that the abuse was not your fault.

  • Rebuilding self-esteem — supporting you to regain confidence, hope, and a stronger sense of self.

  • Understanding children’s experiences — showing how abuse affects children and how their lives improve once abuse is removed.

  • Breaking isolation — connecting you with others who have experienced similar situations in a safe, supportive space.

Many participants say the programme helps them finally make sense of what happened, instead of feeling like everything was just a “horrible mess.”

Who It’s For

The Freedom Programme is for anyone who has experienced domestic abuse — whether emotional, physical, financial, or coercive control. It’s especially helpful if you:

  • Want to understand what happened and why.

  • Need to rebuild confidence and self-worth after abuse.

  • Are a parent wanting to help your children heal from what they’ve witnessed.

  • Would like to connect with others who understand your experience.

You don’t need a referral to join — the programme is open to survivors who feel it could help them.
