Helping Hands – Strengthening Families Programme

Family life can be rewarding, but it isn’t always easy. Stress, big life changes, and everyday pressures can sometimes make it hard to stay connected and communicate well at home. That’s why we run the Helping Hands Programme

Helping Hands Programme

Based on the internationally recognised Strengthening Families Program (SFP), Helping Hands is designed for all families — whether you’re going through a difficult time or simply want to strengthen your family bonds.

This 13-week online programme helps families build stronger relationships, improve communication, and create a safer, more supportive home environment.

Why the Helping Hands  Programme Helps

At some pount, every family will find it hard to :

Struggle to communicate without conflict.

Feel disconnected from one another.

Feel stress from separation, parenting pressures, or financial worries.

Have concerns about their children’s wellbeing or risk-taking behaviour.

Families who complete the programme often report feeling more connected, organised, and confident — and children benefit from a safer, more supportive home life.

How the Helping Hands Programme Helps

Strong, loving families help children grow up feeling safe, supported, and confident. But many families experience challenges such as:

Improving family bonding — helping parents and children feel closer and more secure.

Teaching positive parenting skills — including clear boundaries, emotional support, and healthy discipline.

Strengthening protective factors — helping children feel safe, loved, and less likely to engage in risky behaviour.

Families who complete the programme often report feeling more connected, organised, and confident — and children benefit from a safer, more supportive home life.

How Sessions Work

  • Duration: The programme runs for 13 weeks.

  • When: Wednesday evenings, 6:00 – 8:30 pm, delivered online for easy access.

  • How Sessions Work:
  • First hour: Parents and children learn separately — parents focus on parenting skills, while children learn life skills such as communication, confidence, and making safe choices.
  • Second hour: Families come together to practise new skills, improve communication, and strengthen their bond.

  • Facilitators: Sessions are run by trained professionals who understand family dynamics and provide guidance in a safe, respectful way.
